Hot dogs are a Summertime staple, in fact 9 billion hot dogs are sold annually in the United States. The hot dog is one of the most iconic American foods, so much so that it is celebrated with its own holiday. National Hot Dog Day is celebrated each year in July during National Hot Dog Month, as set by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. This year National Hot Dog Day falls on July 23rd and celebrating is easy. All you have to do is cook your favorite hot dog, or better yet, go out and enjoy a hot dog at your favorite establishment. We cannot think of a better place to celebrate this holiday than St. Augustine's very own Hazel's Hot Dogs located at 2400 N Ponce De Leon Blvd, just north of downtown.
Hazel's Hot Dogs, a casual walk-up stand, is a small place that packs a big punch! Hazel's keeps things simple and the prices reasonable. The pork and beef hot dogs, with natural encasing, are specially made for Hazel's to give you that snap you expect in a good hot dog. When it comes to picking out the works for your dog, you can add anything from mustard/ketchup to chili to sauerkraut or slaw to the locally produced D at'l Do-It hot sauce (a signature dish and a personal favorite).
In celebration of National Hot Dog Day, we are giving away a $20 gift card to Hazel's Hot Dogs. To enter into the drawing, simply like our FB page @erinandgail, tell us your favorite way to enjoy a hot dog, and share our National Hot Dog Day post. We will announce the winner by Friday, July 26th.
